I haven’t been posting much since “Chiron Beta Prime” came out. Sorry. It’s not like I haven’t been making videos either. Unfortunately, none of you all will probably ever see it though. I’m making a video for Adobe’s Tech Fair in February. It’s an Adobe-only event and they have a video contest where Adobe tech teams from all over the world make team videos and compete for… nothing really, but it’s fun anyway.
I had hoped to be able to enter “Code Monkey” in the contest, but then they announced the contest’s theme — “The Future Of…”, which killed that idea. Then I thought I could enter “The Future Soon”, but then they said that all the videos had to be 30 to 60 seconds long, which killed that idea too. I even sent the organizers a link to TFS, hoping they’d make an exception or maybe play my video at the beginning of the tech fair even if it couldn’t be in the competition. I got a polite email back saying that they’d look into that more later but that they encouraged me to submit a video that adhered to the competition’s rules. They just don’t get me.
So like I said, since it’s an Adobe-internal-only thing, I’m pretty sure I can’t show around the video, which is fine because it’s not set to a Jonathan Coulton song and so won’t be as interesting to you guys as my normal videos are.
Happy Holidays to everyone!

I had this one ready about a week early (had some time off around Thanksgiving) and have been sitting on it until December 1st, Jonathan Coulton’s birthday (happy birthday, JC). I had a bit of a scare this time though…
Usually, when I show my videos to my wife, if she doesn’t laugh at it, I know it’ll be a hit (she’s kind of immune to the humor in my videos). But this time, she not only didn’t laugh (good), she said she didn’t think it was one of my best (bad). Luckily, I still had time to crack it back open and futz with some timing and adding a couple of gags so that the final product is better than it was originally. Whether or not I was able to save it from not being one of my best, I leave up to all of you, although I know that they can’t all be my best.
I want to make sure I direct your attention to what I consider to be the best Chiron Beta Prime (CBP) video I’ve seen (probably better than mine). It’s by Thomas Ellsworth, and was originally posted as part of the Jonathan Coulton Project (JoCoPro). You can click the “wmv” link on that page to view Thomas’ video.
Not only is his video good, with solid Flash animation and funny gags, its got what I consider to be the best gag possible for the line “we know it’s almost Christmas from the marks we make on the wall”. I knew there was no way I could beat that gag, but hopefully my bloody gag for that same line comes close.
